Sandi Patty makes her ESO debut singing timeless hymns such as A Mighty Fortress Is Our God and Crown Him with Many Crowns as well as inspirational classics including His Eye is on the Sparrow and Let There Be Praise.

On April 13, Sandi Patty will be available for CD and Book Signing from 4:30 - 5:30 pm at The Fig Tree Christian Books and Gifts (West Edmonton Mall, lower level near Sears).

The next ESO Special performance is Live And Let Die, A Symphonic Tribute to the Music of Paul McCartney, on May 12, 2010.

Artist Information

Jack Everly, conductor

jack everly Jack Everly is the Principal Pops Conductor of the Baltimore and Indianapolis Symphony Orchestras, Naples Philharmonic Orchestra and National Arts Centre Orchestra (Ottawa). He is widely known for his innovative approach to programs that have brought new audiences to the time-tested and beloved symphonic pops genre. This season he made his Cleveland Orchestra debut at Blossom Music Center and appears as guest conductor in Pittsburgh, Milwaukee, Toronto, Cincinnati and Detroit.
 
Mr. Everly is the Music Director of Yuletide Celebration, now a 24-year tradition. These theatrical symphonic holiday concerts are presented annually in December in Indianapolis and are seen by more than 40,000 concert-goers. Mr. Everly led the ISO in its first Pops recording, Yuletide Celebration, Volume One, that included three of his own arrangements.
 
Originally appointed by Mikhail Baryshnikov, Mr. Everly was conductor of the American Ballet Theatre for 14 years, where he served as Music Director. In addition to his ABT tenure, he has teamed with Marvin Hamlisch in Broadway shows that Mr. Hamlisch scored including, The Goodbye Girl, They’re Playing Our Song, and A Chorus Line. He conducted Carol Channing hundreds of times in Hello, Dolly! in two separate Broadway productions.
 
In television and film, Jack Everly has appeared on In Performance at the White House and conducted the songs for Disney’s animated classic, The Hunchback of Notre Dame. He has been music director on numerous Broadway cast recordings, and conducted the critically praised, Everything’s Coming Up Roses: The Complete Overtures of Broadway’s Jule Styne. A CD released in July 2005, In the Presence, features tenor Daniel Rodriguez with the Czech Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra of Prague conducted by Mr. Everly.
 
In 1998, Jack Everly created the Symphonic Pops Consortium serving as Music Director. The Consortium, based in Indianapolis, produces a new theatrical pops program each season providing a superior quality artistic program for all. In the past nine years, more than 225 performances of SPC programs have taken place in 25 cities across the U.S. and Canada. This season’s world premiere will be Mysterioso: Music, Magic, Mayhem & Mirth.
 
In May 2009 Maestro Everly received an Honorary Doctorate of Arts from Franklin College in his home state of Indiana. When not on the podium or arranging, Maestro Everly indulges in his love for films, Häagen-Dazs, and a pooch named Max.

sandi pattyAs one of the most highly acclaimed performers of our time with five Grammy® awards, four Billboard Music Awards, three platinum records, five gold records, and eleven million units sold, Sandi Patty is simply known as The Voice. Ms. Patty is the most awarded female vocalist in contemporary Christian music history. With 39 Dove Awards, she was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 2004, and as an Indiana Living Legend in 2007. She has released over 30 albums, including her latest album Songs for the Journey.
 
Ms. Patty was introduced to the world with her rendition of The Star Spangled Banner during the rededication of the Statue of Liberty in 1986. Virtually overnight she became one of America’s best-loved performers. Sandi has performed with symphonies across the country, including the New York Pops, Boston Pops, Cincinnati Pops, Dallas Symphony, Baltimore Symphony, Houston Symphony, and Oklahoma City Philharmonic. Sandi Patty is also an accomplished author. For the bestseller Broken on the Back Row, she received the 2006 Silver Angel Award. Her other titles include Life in the Blender, Falling Forward, Layers, and her forthcoming book, The Edge of the Divine. “I am grateful for the many opportunities God has given in my life and for how He has allowed me to spread my wings,” she says. “Singing is my way to tell my story of hope, life, and love.” Sandi and her husband Don have eight children.  They currently reside in Oklahoma City, OK. Concordia Community Chorus

The Concordia Community Chorus, under Dr. Joy Berg is a 160-voice non-auditioned choral ensemble. It is open to both Concordia students and members of the area community. Each season there is potential for an auditioned Chamber Choir from within the group. The performance schedule includes annual participation in the Sacred Music Festival, A Concordia Christmas, singing at the Legislature, and a spring concert.
 
It has sung at the Alberta Music Conference and the Alberta Legislature. In November 2005 the Community Chorus had the privilege to sing at Carnegie Hall in New York, performing Haydn’s Paukenmesse under the direction of Dr. Richard Sparks.
 
This is the choir’s debut with the ESO.
