Symphony Under the Sky 2010 Photo Contest

Submit your photos taken at 2010 SUTS performances (September 3rd - 6th) by 11:59 PM Friday, September 10, 2010 with the tag yegsuts to enter. Photos will be judged on artistic quality for the following categories:

Music
People
Food
Nature

Rules

1. No flash photography
2. No video
3. Photos must be taken from the audience area

And overall, be discreet and respectful to other patrons - they are there to see the performance, not you taking pictures. While music is being performed, you should not block someone else's view of the stage or otherwise disturb them.

Winning images will be selected by a panel of judges and announced by September 17, 2010. The winner will receive a pair of tickets to a selected concert in the ESO's 2010/11 season.

How to Submit

1. Log on to Flickr with your Yahoo! ID. If you do not have an account, you can create one for free.

2. Join the Symphony Under the Sky Flickr group, if you are not already a member. Join by clicking "Join this Group" found on the group page.

3. Upload an image to your account by selecting "Upload Photos and Video" from your Flickr home page or from the "You" menu option. Make sure to set the privacy on your photo to public (Anyone). Make sure to tag your photo yegsuts using the tag feature.

4. Click on the image in your photostream you wish to submit. Send the image to the Photo Contest Group using the "Add to / Remove from Group" function, found in the "Actions" menu above the image.

About Flickr

Flickr is an online photo-sharing website. In order to enter our 2010 Photo Contest, you simply need to add your photos to the Symphony Under the Sky group.

Full Contest Rules

The Symphony Under the Sky 2010 Photo Contest is open to all participants excluding employees of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra and the immediate families of such employees.

You will retain all rights to any photograph you submit – including ownership, if applicable – other than those rights licensed as follows: by entering the contest, you hereby grant to the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra (i) a nonexclusive, worldwide, irrevocable, royalty-free license to reproduce, distribute, and publicly display the photographs you submit to the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, and (ii) the right to use your name, city, state, and country of residence in promotions and other publications.

All photographs will be credited with the caption "© Participant's Name." The Edmonton Symphony Orchestra has final approval of any language that appears on its website in connection to any of the photos and will not promote or endorse third-party products or services. Entrant warrants that the submitted photograph is owned by the entrant, and is an original, non-published work that does not infringe upon the rights of any third parties.

The privacy settings of submitted photos must be set to Public or Anyone to be considered in the contest. If you do not upload your photo to the Symphony Under the Sky 2010 Photo Contest group on Flickr, or do not tag your photo with the tag yegsuts, it will not be considered for competition. If you have trouble using Flickr, please consult their online help files. The Edmonton Symphony Orchestra is not responsible for any issues or problems you encounter while trying to upload a photo onto Flickr.

Entries may originate in any format – including but not limited to digital files, digital prints, color transparencies, color prints, or black-and-white prints – so long as they are submitted electronically in JPG/JPEG format. Judging will be based on which picture best represents the experience of attending Symphony Under the Sky, as well as creativity, artistic merit, composition, and overall impact. Images will be judged by a panel of Edmonton Symphony Orchestra staff and volunteers who are familiar with photography, and who are responsible for selecting images for various Edmonton Symphony Orchestra print and electronic marketing and public relations materials.

The Edmonton Symphony Orchestra shall determine winner eligibility in its sole and absolute discretion. All decisions made by the judges are final.

The deadline for submitting photo entries is 11:59 pm MDT on Friday, September 10, 2010. Winners will be announced on Friday, September 17, 2010.

The Edmonton Symphony Orchestra reserves the right to adjust any deadline(s) as the result of causes beyond its immediate control. The winner of each photo category will receive a pair of tickets selected by the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra to a future ESO concert. Winners will be notified via Flickr Mail.
