YONA-Sistema Site Assistant (Part-time, 3-month contract)

We are seeking a qualified, dedicated Site Assistant to join us in April 2017 in the Youth Orchestra of Northern Alberta (YONA-Sistema) program, which enacts social change through music education for Edmonton’s underserved youth. This position is to fill a maternity leave, on a 3-month salaried contract. Working hours are Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 2:50-6:20, Thursdays from 2:00-4:00.

YONA-Sistema – Substitute Teaching Artists

The Edmonton Symphony Orchestra’s vision is to make music accessible to everyone and minimize barriers for people to access musical arts experiences. Our Musical Creativity team always welcomes interest from qualified, dedicated Teaching Artists (Strings, Winds/Brass, Percussion) to join us in the Youth Orchestra of Northern Alberta Sistema (YONA-Sistema) program, which enacts social change through music education for Edmonton’s underserved youth. Your qualifications include a post-secondary degree (preferably in music, education, or a related field) and a minimum of 1-2 years in a teaching or child-care setting. Experience teaching instruments to children or working with groups of children is an asset. Successful candidates are positive, open-minded, empathetic, non-judgmental and committed to building strong communities.
