The ESO for Families
The Edmonton Symphony Orchestra and the Winspear Centre are happy to offer two summer daycamps in July 2017!
Sensational Strings Daycamp
July 10 - 15, 2017
Would you like to learn to play the ukulele or the miniature harp? You’ll do this and more during your week at the Winspear Centre! You’ll try out all kinds of string instruments, will meet members of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, take a backstage tour of the building, and get an up-close look at the Davis Concert Organ. The week will finish off with a concert in the main lobby, where you’ll showcase your new skills on these Sensational Strings!
Dates: July 10-14, 9 am - 4 pm
Limit: 40 students
Musical Adventurers Daycamp
July 17 - 21, 2017
Do you love adventure? Is music one of your favourite things? Then this is the camp for you! We'll create a musical map of Canada as we sing, dance, and play music from all different cultures. We’ll get a behind-the-scenes look at the Winspear Centre and will journey around Edmonton, visiting Fort Edmonton Park and swimming at City Hall Fountain. We'll build our own instruments, and will even perform our own original music at a sharing concert at the end of the week!
Dates: July 17-21, 9 am - 4 pm
Limit: 40 students
The Edmonton Symphony Orchestra offers several options for families to attend exciting and entertaining orchestral concerts. While we welcome children aged 3 and up to any orchestra performance, we understand that not all concerts are appropriate for young children. We've chosen to focus a few of our series towards families:
4 Saturday concerts at 2PM
For years families have trusted the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra to present fun and diverse concerts for the youngsters. We suggest that children aged 5 - 12 will best enjoy these concerts. Sponsored by Imperial Oil Foundation.
4 Sunday concerts at 2PM
Sunday Showcase concerts feature a soloist from the ESO and a young, promising musician in performances that blend timeless masterpieces and new discoveries. Youth aged 13 - 17 receive special pricing for subscriptions and single tickets.
