Grades 7 - 12

As your students mature, we provide them with opportunities to experience the orchestra in a format that more closely resembles ESO subscription concerts. Rehearsals are 1.5 – 2.5 hours in length, depending on the rehearsal. Most groups plan to leave after 2 hours.

Open Dress Rehearsals

Catch a sneak-peek of the ESO at work in our Open Dress Rehearsals! Students will gain an inside view of the rehearsal process through a live blog feed broadcasted in the hall throughout the rehearsal, and through an opportunity to ask questions of composers, conductors, or other special guests. Students will be engaged in directed listening and will gain an introduction to the historical context of great contemporary and classical symphonic works. This is the ultimate experience for die-hard musicians!

Bookings will open in early September - check back then to register your class!

Cost: $9/student
One free supervisor may attend for every 10 students. Additional supervisors may attend at $9 each.

Music of South America
José Luis Gomez conducts music from Latin and South America inspired by European masters. Piazzolla’s concerto salutes Vivaldi, while Villa-Lobos’ Sinfonietta is “in memory of Mozart”. Edmonton’s Andrew Wan, now the Montreal Symphony’s concertmaster, makes a welcome return.

Hollywood in Outer Space
Boldly go where no one has gone before with some of the greatest movie scores ever written. The Edmonton Symphony will celebrate all things out of this world, performing excerpts from blockbusters such as the Star Trek and Star Wars franchises, The Rocketeer, Planet of the Apes, Alien, and Cocoon. This will be more fun than the cantina at Mos Eisley.

*Seats available have non-blogging views only.  Students will see the orchestra and the stage, but will not be able to follow along with the live-blog
